Java URL is a work in progress. Please check the status page before downloading.

Before downloading anything you must agree to the terms of the GNU General Public License. All source in the Java URL project is free, and you can freely change the code to suit your needs. However, the license requires you to keep your changed version free in the same way, so that everybody can benefit from your improvements.

The Safe Network Launcher

• Download the installer for Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000

Note: The Safe Network Launcher supports the Microsoft Java VM (wjview).

Binaries and resources

• Download java-url.jar
• Download configuration.xml skeleton (you should modify this)
• Download index.xml

Important notes:

• For Java VMs that support runnable JARs, the JAR runs in GUI mode.
• The Safe Network Launcher looks for resources (configuration.xml, index.xml) in your system's library path, in addition to the class path.
• The main class is either launch or gnu.launcher.Instance.
• The JAR also contains a main class called jnlpgen, a tool for generating simple JNLP files.
