Dragon's Wake

A nice little platformer with innovative yet satisfying controls, and a lovely story that is told without words or heavy-handed metaphors, and yet you will completely understand it.

Some people have commented that you play a "good" dragon, but to be honest it is not so simple. You are called upon to kill enemies, but as a recent hatchling you don't really know who is good and who is evil. The enemies are just another race of beings, that happen to attack you rather than aid you. A deeper reading of the story reveals how morality is often something you are caught up in, that spins around you and presents you with challenges. In the end, you want to survive, but are you truly a hero?

The story is remarkably mature, as you see allies die, and of course you dish out much destruction. You need to kill animals to survive, but often they are cute little creatures that do not pose any real threat to you. You are, at the end of the day, a predator.

It's wonderful that such a little platformer can inspire such thoughts.

Be warned that the game itself is not that easy. It takes time to get used to the controls. Also, your game is saved only automatically, and if it saved you with little life energy left just before a difficult area, you will be a tight spot. But persevere, learn the enemy tactics, and you should be able to beat the game.

Finally, thank you so much, dev, for supporting Linux!
