Fort Solis
There are enough "psychological horror walking sims on a nearby planet in the near future" games at this point that we can call it a genre. It honestly baffles me as to why game devs keep retreading the same ground. So, how does this one fare?
I give it a very half-hearted thumbs up. The art design is excellent, as are the acting and character animations. Lots of atmosphere here. But the story and gameplay are quite mediocre.
It's very slow moving and you cannot skip cut scenes. That's pretty much expected. It's also quite linear. Unless you're stubborn about finding all the collectibles it should be a breeze to play through. There are exactly zero challenges. None. The story is predictable and rather dumb but it is nicely revealed to you. You won't be wowed, but I don't think you will be bored or annoyed either.
Achievements suck. You will surely need a walkthrough if you want to get them all. And one of them is just pure garbage. I strongly recommend turning off achievement notifications and ignoring them. They would just distract from the experience.
