GRIS
A beautiful art puzzle-platformer game. It seems to be about having one's life fall apart and then regaining a sense of beauty and color. It's an internal, and for most part lonely journey.
It actually does work pretty well as a game, not just an art project. Though it's fairly short, and it starts far too easy, if you stick to it the puzzles will get progressively more challenging. Nothing too difficult, but they will make you think and force you to explore and experiment.
If I have any criticism it's that the story, as much as I understood it, is pretentious and heavy-handed. Not many of us would be able to identify with a pretty young female artist rediscovering her love for art. But ... perhaps those of us dealing will depression will find it sensually famiilar. I enjoyed it as an outsider looking in.
I also wish that it were longer and had more "meat" to the game. The world is gorgeous and the puzzle mechanics are delightful. There just aren't enough puzzles!
