House of 1000 Doors: Evil Inside

This fourth entry in the series has new developers that have significantly changed its look and feel. It keeps its concept and usual cast of characters, but there are new voice actors, a new protagonist (who is boring!), and very different graphics. Luckily, despite the jarring change, it's still good.

The story is definitely weak compared to previous entries. Fans would be disappointed. However, the gameplay compensates. I played it on "hard" mode and it gave me quite a challenge! The point-and-click adventuring puzzles are for the most part logical, but not always obvious. Some are quite obtuse. The puzzle mini-games are good and satisfying. There aren't many hidden-object scenes, but they are adequate, if too easy.

All in all, there are many hours of gameplay here, especially if you play it on "hard". Recommended! Though I still wish they didn't change developers. It really hurts the sense of continuity.
