Layers of Fear
A delicious horror game. It's essentially a haunted house experience with a horrific background story that is slowly uncovered as you go deeper into the house and into the memories of a schizophrenic genius. Gameplay consists of exploration, a few puzzles, and a continuous struggle to keep from peeing your pants...
There are a lot of jump scares, but also quite a bit of more calm exploration, reading documents, listening to diary fragments, etc.
The graphic design is impeccable, the music appropriate, and only the voice acting seems out of place. I'm a bit annoyed that getting all the endings would require several replays while carefully following guides. I feel that a game like this, which is about the experience, should let you have it all. Forcing replays is a phony way to add game time: how about just adding more content?
The Inheritance DLC is optional, short, and nice in itself, but its ending is glitchy and I could not finish it after trying every solution I could look up in the forums. A rather weak way to end a satisfying experience!
