Lifeless Planet

Experience a desolate narrative by traveling patiently through large and understatedly enchanting landscapes. Though often quite rough around the edges, the whole game comes together to be subtly immersive.

This is a slow game, but not a "walking simulator." Gameplay consists of simple but satisfying environmental puzzles as well as quite a lot of 3D platforming ranging from fun (wee!) to frustrating. If you have a fear of heights, these sequences might not be very pleasant. Controls are also imperfect. (But, well, 3D platforming is generally very hard to get right.)

The game's weaknesses are its monotonously simple visual design and cheap repetition. Though it's a long game, content is not diverse. It seems that with many more resources—more designers working more hours—this intriguing morsel could have become quite a gem. As it stands, the concept does come across, but the result, though pleasant, does not do it justice.

Finally, thank you, developers, for supporting Linux!
