New York Mysteries: High Voltage
First, the good things: This is a worthy successor of New York Mysteries: Secrets of the Mafia. Same long and satisfying gameplay, same poorly constituted background story and backdrop (at least it doesn't get in the way), same bad voice acting. Note that it's not a typical hidden-object game: the hidden-object scenes involve finding objects by silhouette and using them together to solve puzzles. It's quite nice. There are also many mini-games, but they are invariably too easy.
The obnoxious part is the ads: the game actually pops up slides during gameplay reminding you to "rate" in on some site, and this is in addition to a pop-up slide every time you start the game. This poor managerial decision causes you to break immersion and roll your eyes. Can we please stop this nonsense?
Also, there is a bug with saving games: at some point, the game just wouldn't save for me when I quit normally, so next time I played I started way back at an old save. This problem persists to this day. So, I would recommend playing the whole in one sitting in order not to risk frustration.
