Old Man's Journey

The graphics are absolutely gorgeous. The rest is rather mediocre.

If you're expecting a deep rumination on aging, you won't find it here. The story is simple and told in a straightforward manner. It is nice enough, though. and the graphics do a good job at conveying it.

The gameplay is frustrating. The conceit is that you can mold the terrain to move around, forming simple puzzles for getting from point A to point B. It starts simply, but later in the game just gets annoying. Even if you can see the solution clearly you have to move things around with precision. And the character moves so, so slowly. It's also hard to understand what this conceit has to do with the story. It just feels disconnected. Furthermore, in some scenes you need to click on something to get the story moving forward, but there's no indication on what you have to click. So you'll just click all over the place. It's dumb.

If you come with the right expectations, and have a love for beautifully drawn graphics, this can be a charming little experience.
