Peregrin
This mediocre game does have its charms. The graphics are distinctly crafted, and together with the ambient music, solemn voice acting, and the slow pace of the game create an atmosphere that matches the story quite well.
Unfortunately, the story is trivial and you'll be able to get a handle on it pretty quickly. I found its final "message" to be offensively simplistic.
The gamepley is similarly trivial. The puzzles are far too easy, and the slow pace just makes them annoying to solve. The controls are a bit buggy here and there, leading to unnecessary deaths requiring further repititions of the boring puzzles.
Finally, the achievements are poorly conceived. Only a few are challenging. Most are tirivial, but worse is that two require you to win a game a chance. Keep quitting the game and try again until it works. Sounds like fun, right? Who thought that this could be a good idea?
I wish I could give this game a middle grade: it's definitely not a "thumbs up," but its atmosphere is effective. With better game design and deeper storytelling this could have been a gem.
