Purpose 1951

An especially short and eminently mediocre walking sim from Tonguç Bodur.

It's nice to see a bit more variation in the level design than in Tonguç's usual output. Graphics are pretty enough (Unreal Engine with an assortment of 3rd-party assets), though be warned that the palette is dripping with saturation. Let's call it an "artistic choice". Also nice that the default walking speed is not the usual snail's pace. There's even a section in which you ride a bicycle. Wow, an actual genre-breaking risk!

Best of all, none of Tonguç's usual pseudo-philosophical babble. Phew. Unfortunately, instead, we have a meandering biographical narrative. It kinda goes round and round and never lands anywhere. I wasn't bored, but I have no idea what the point of it was. Tonguç definitely has a quirky idea of what constitutes a "story".

Tonguç, if you're reading: I appreciate your restraint here. By avoiding indulgent excesses you're giving more room for people to enjoy your art. But I think you need to devote much more attention to developing your stories. Be original! Embrace your unique view of the world! The clichés don't work, especially for you.
