Sable
As of patch 3.3.6, this game is way too buggy to have been released. There are many issues with the UI, with the camera, with world geometry, with physics, with game saves, and performance is a stuttering, miserable mess despite the minimalistic graphics.
Underneath is a decent game. But developers should not be rewarded for selling broken products.
I do not recommend buying or playing it. That said, I did finish the game despite its utter broken state. If you insist, here is my impression of what the game could be when fixed:
The best aspect of the game is the world itself, its tone, and its mood. There is a sci-fi backstory you can discover, but it really is just a background element. What matters is the landscape, the quiet ruins of space ships and temples, and the (for the most part) gentle and welcoming culture of the natives. It's a pleasure to travel through and get to know this place.
That said, the game world is quite small and mostly empty. You do get some locations with things to do, the best being environmental puzzle areas, though they can be quite frustrating to solve due to the broken phsyics. There are also several fetch quests that are surprisingly pleasant in that they introduce some simple mini-games and teach you more about the world and its quirky characters.
It's nice that there is no combat, no real loot anxiety (around the mid-game you can "farm" for as much currency as you want and buy everything), and really no real consequences for your choices other than how you understand your character to be.
Unfortunately, traversing the environment, which is most of what you do, is not so great. Your vehicle maneuvers well enough, but climbing is painful. Though you can upgrade your stamina, it's still very slow and cumbersome. Add the brokenness of everything and it can be quite awful indeed. At the end of the day, the cumulative hours I spent waiting for my character to trudge up cliff faces is probably what I'll remember most from this game. And those aren't the best memories.
So, Sable is bursting with potential, but even if all the crippling bugs were fixed it would remain an experience that doesn't quite deliver on its potential.
