Turok
This superb modern port is enjoyable, but it still can't fix some problems that were present in the original game.
The best part is the controls. They're so very satisyfingly calibrated somewhere between fast, floaty, and precise. It just feels great to hold a controller in your hands and move through the game world. The world, too, is kinda awesome. You're a time-traveling Native American fighting aliens and dinosaurs. Cool? Cool.
Unfortunately, level design is often quite boring. It's not all bad, but for the most part it's just big outdoor areas full of enemies. Around the mid-point of the game I've pretty much seen it all.
Also, very problematic for me is the save system. You can only save at certain points that are very far from each other. This made it impossible to just pick up and play. I had to commit myself to at least reaching a save point, which could take a while.
